Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences

The Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences is a comprehensive humanities and social science research institution in Shanghai. It is the earliest social science academy established in the People's Republic of China and the first batch of degree-granting institutions approved by the State Council Academic Degree Committee.The Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences was founded in 1958 and was formed by the merger of the Shanghai Institute of Economics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai Institute of History, Shanghai Institute of Finance and Economics, East China University of Political Science and Law, and the Law Department of Fudan University.According to the official website of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences in August 2018, the Academy of Social Sciences has 17 research institutes, 12 management departments, 6 directly affiliated units and 17 directly affiliated research centers of the Academy;There are about 760 working staff.
